The basics

What is Rhythm Guru?

Rhythm Guru is a free rhythm game for iPhone and Android. You tap notes on three lanes in time with the music. Besides a hand-tuned song catalogue and maps made by other players, it can turn any song on your phone into a playable level with five difficulties, which you can edit, publish and compete on with world, country and friends leaderboards.

Is Rhythm Guru free?

Yes. Every song, every difficulty and every leaderboard is free, and there is no energy system. The game shows ads between screens, never during a song. Optional Premium removes ads, lifts the monthly generation limit and adds status perks.

Which phones does it run on? Is there a PC version?

Rhythm Guru is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. There is no PC or console version.

Which languages does it support?

Nine: English, Russian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese.

Your own songs

Can I play my own music?

Yes — that is the main idea. Tap Add Your Song on the Home screen, pick a file from Files or from the music library on your phone, and the game builds a level for it. The full walkthrough is in the guide to turning any song into a level.

How long does it take to make a level from a song?

Usually about a minute. A song that has never been added before can take two or three minutes; songs that were processed before are much faster. You can keep using the app while it works.

Which audio files work?

MP3, M4A, WAV and FLAC files up to 10 minutes long. Tracks that only exist inside a streaming app and cannot be saved as a file cannot be added.

Is there a limit on how many songs I can add?

The free tier includes 10 generated maps a month. Premium removes the limit. The remaining allowance is shown on the Add Your Song screen.

The map feels off. What can I do?

Open it in the editor. If every note is early or late, adjust the grid offset with the metronome — the whole map moves with the grid. If one section is wrong, move, add or delete notes there. Rap and instrumental tracks without a clear beat are the known weak spots of automatic mapping and benefit most from editing.

Can other people play my map?

Only after you publish it. Until then a map is private. Published maps appear in Community, get their own leaderboards and can collect ♥ from other players.

Competing

Where are the leaderboards?

Every song has World, Country and Friends leaderboards; open a song and tap the leaderboard block. Your overall position, World # and Country #, total pp and collected ranks are on your profile.

What do the ranks D to SS mean?

They grade a run by accuracy: SS is 100% (all Perfect), S is 95% or more, A 90%, B 80%, C 70%, and D below 70%.

What is pp and how do I get it?

pp (performance points) reward impressive plays on official songs and RANKED community maps. One play earns max combo × difficulty factor (1 for Easy up to 5 for Expert+) × accuracy ÷ 100, and your total weights your best plays from the top down. The ranks and pp guide has examples.

How does a community map become RANKED?

Automatically, when it collects 100 ♥ from players. Ranked maps surface first in search, count for the world ladder and award pp like licensed songs.

Is Rhythm Guru like osu!?

It borrows the idea of pp and letter ranks from osu!, but it is a phone game with three lanes of taps and makes levels from your own songs automatically instead of charting them by hand. The comparison guide covers the differences in detail.

Playing

Can I play offline?

Songs you have downloaded stay playable without a connection, and scores sync to the leaderboards when you are back online. Making new levels and loading leaderboards need the internet.

My taps feel late. How do I fix it?

Open Settings and calibrate Input offset, or run Fine-tune latency, which plays a short map and suggests a value. Bluetooth headphones add delay, so calibrate again whenever you change headphones.

Is there a daily challenge?

Yes. A daily song appears on the Home screen; playing it keeps your streak going, and the streak grows through Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond tiers. You can also challenge a friend to beat your score.

Own Song Challenge

What is the Own Song Challenge?

From 20 October to 31 December 2026, publish a map made from your own song to the Community. Every participant gets one month of Premium, and the authors of the three maps with the most ♥ get one year. No purchase is needed. The official rules are on the challenge page.
